I cannot agree with this grim perspective of world pvp under war mode. In any zone that has call to arms on there was always a ton of pvp. As an Alliance main with war mode on for almost all of BfA, world pvp was not at all rare.
This is just an opinion based blog. Not an article. Without data, you proves nothing my friend.
I used to play a lot of arenas back in wotlk, cata and mop(after that I took a break). I was farming bgs for pvp gear then do arenas all day long and nights I was going to raids. That was it and I loved it. I didin't step in the arena in BfA because I had no reason, the no pvp gear and the rewards are unsatisfactory.
Tell me Blizzard why do Hunters newer ever played in Arena tournament finals? Or why do Hunters are on the last place in arena ladder count already for 7 years?Arena is most un balanced thing in World of Warcraft. Since it was first time added in BC till today there never was normal Balance. All the time some META teams Over Power others. Blizzard tries to fix it, but they always fail, making PVE suffer from their tries.
I play since 2004, and I came to know that the higher you pursue and the higher your goals are - and you are not getting there - the less\not having fun it will be.only casuals or 100% dedicated players who have a solid team or friends to play with will have fun.
As a long time player and before I started playing wow I watched my brother playing wow PvP and fished on his account before I got my own.I am a hardcore casual, meaning some weeks I got more time to play others I don't. I have always participated in PvP, not for the gear, not for achivs, but simply for the mere pleasure of killing hordescum!I have never really done arena because I never felt I could commit to that setup (intense teamplay) I do Bgs, World Pvp and I am not interested in the rated stuff due to the fact most rated are bull!@#$, matching up sux like in any other games, skills, gears, and this is where my 2 cents isThe fact that PvE gear is allowed in PvP makes it so unbalanced its unreal. and visa verse. Back in the days I used to have 2 gear setup filling up my bags, but I had to because my PvE gear was useless in PvP and visa verse. The introduction of War mode was a joke and still is.. its just a PvP server like in old days, but the enhanced rewards made many NoN pve casuals do warmode because of greed! and not because they want too PvP.There has always been OP skills, gear, tricks and players has found many ways to outsmart blizzards rigid gear/skills pvp setup wheter it was for "the trill" or "the kill" or just because.IMHO PvP and PvE should be completely separated and not allowed to interact. so if you make a PvP toon, that toon cannot become PvE geared and visa verse. And how will it fare in shadowlands? My guess is that its going to become even worse now with the fact that there is no difference on pve/pvp gear and the whole scaling system is so broken and will continue to be broken as it looks like blizzard believe in this system. But I will fish my way through it!Fish Out!
Total click bait, this was an absolutely terrible article with nothing insightful at all. Shame on you WoWhead.
These "everything in modern WoW is terrible" opinion pieces must get a lot of views. It is unfortunate that this has become so popular and all the news sites, youtubers, streamers etc. jumped on it. You barely see anything positive about the game anymore because it doesn't generate as much views.Personally I don't PvP much, simply because it is balanced around gear and rewards time spent grinding instead of actual skill. That's probably why games like dota and pubg are much more popular for PvP. You can just log in and play on an even playing field.
nothing is more exhilarating to me than a good 1v1everyone has a hook keeping them coming back to wow, that 1 in 100 duel is minelegion facilitated this best for me, cause everyone was easily able to reach their peak, and unable to exceed it, making for closest-to-fair fights imo
I once stepped into a 2v2 skirmish match as a shadow priest together with another priest (I think he was disc) sometime during TBC. We lost quite hard, I never stepped into an arena again.
Yes, spot on!
I clicked this article expecting graphs. I see no graphs. I leave disappointed.
Problem with arena is how incredible dull and frustrating it is to play. You can't just jump into 3s, you'll get overwhelmed by so many abilities you need an answer for from all the different specs, so you start learning it in 2s. But in 2s the game is so boring as its x/healer all the time, and when two teams at lower bracket try to land a score and just fails and fails, eventually, a slow dampening is the one that kills either team. Dota2 solved this puzzle so well, with snowballing effect from the start. I just feel arena is a very outdated format of gameplay
There is a distinct issue with the way pvp is dealt with and it's been an issue for a long time though I doubt the comparatively small but loud group of hardcore pvpers will agree, blizzard doesnt put the time or effort into correct pvp ballance, every expansion it starts ok and then degrades with gear and upgrades until unless you are playing certain things it's an unplayable mess. This lack of ballance would be much less of an issue if they put more effort into battlegrounds and reduced the importance of arenas, I understand the idea when they were added in TBC but the game had always lacked the level of pvp ballance for small scale pvp to be properly viable, these ballance issues are less pronounced when there are more players.
I did once when Wrath came out. Me (Blood DK) and my Prot Warrior friend decided to get the lowest rating possible in arena. So we mounted my vehicle health barred vehicle and we set out on this epic journey. We got burned out at around 300 rating. Mostly because matches become 1 hour troll fests for us and the people who faced were the same people over and over and never learned a thing from each match.
Expected some numbers tbh, although I wouldn't have any idea about how one would get them.I also think theres more of a mixture between the "BFA player" and "The player that just wants to PvP" than this guy seems to thinkMyself at least, I've enjoyed doing the hardest raid content, some keystones and just genuinely down to the wire PvP over the years. And I'd like nothing more than the ability to combine those without having to spend 60+ hours a week in-game to stay relevant
The only PvP I've ever done is Comp Stomp (which has now been removed) because PvP can sod off and so can whoever in Blizzard keeps shoving PvE power into PvP (Blood Of The Enemy, Conflict And Strife)I. DO. NOT. WANT. TO. PVP. BLIZZARD. STOP. TRYING. TO. MAKE. ME.
